LaRae

My mom once told me that the most important label she ever attached to herself was “mother.” And that’s what I believe, too. I am the proud mother of one son, Michael, who is a student at Florida State University. Other labels include wife (of Patrick Donnellan), sister (of six siblings, all older than I), daughter (of Glen and Constance Heffron, both deceased), cousin/aunt/relative-in-law to dozens, and friend to many in this country and abroad.

My professional labels include being a full professor and coordinator of the public relations sequence at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. FAMU is a historically black university and, until recently, was the No. 1 producer of black students earning the bachelor’s degree (we were just passed by the University of Phoenix, I believe). I love my students and my job, even though it consumes far too much of my time. I’ve been at FAMU since August 2001.

Welcome to my Web site, which focuses on some of my professional and personal interests. Take a moment to check out my blog, CV, family tree, and love for music and dance.
